Daws Road Centre
Daws Road Centre provides secondary students with disabilities with a range of opportunities to develop their vocational skills in a supportive environment.
The centre supports students in their preparation for post-school options. This could be towards open or supported employment, or into further study.
The Daws Road Centre strives to develop in students:
- independence
- resilience
- a strong work ethic
- specific work skills in hospitality, agrifood operations, or retail
- literacy, numeracy
- safe work practices and
- social skills
The Daws Road Centre is a transition centre.
Community-based learning
There is a close working relationship with the community which is essential for the success of the programs at Daws Road Centre. Students, parents, school personnel, Daws Road Centre personnel and various partners work together to ensure students are successfully transitioned into employment or further study.
Eligibility
Students with disabilities who are:
- identified under the DECD Disability Support Program
- aged 15 years or older
- enrolled in a DECD school
